What happens to your skin during pregnancy:

Pregnancy comes with a hormonal surge which also targets your follicles and sebaceous (oil producing) glands, and also your skin cells that produce melanin. Estrogens increase the capillaries of the skin, hence the reason for warmer skin and rosy red cheeks.

Active ingredients to avoid during pregnancy:

What ingredients are not on your safe list – salicylic acid, retinol, hydroquinone & benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients at very high concentrations may pose a risk of birth defects to the fetus. These belong to FDA category C drugs – possible risk to fetus, based on animal studies.
